A Cup, a Saucer, and Two Tomatoes

April found us excited to plant sunflowers, basil, thyme, rosemary, citronella, pumpkins and beautiful deep red geraniums. The coup de grace would be tomatoes...every day fresh tomatoes and basil.
What could be finer in Carolina?  (sorry from Carolina)

But all the pampering, watering, vitamin-ing wasn't enough to combat armies of marauding ants, rabbits, sticky spiders and unrelenting heat.
Four plants, once healthy...output to date
two smallish, fully RED tomatoes.

Kat has kept us going strong in her Finding Your Eye course.
Today, we were to photograph one object.....50 times....50 times you have got to be kidding. I will get a cramp in my trigger finger shooting 50 photos!!!

Being obedient, I did shoot 50 photos. And all in honor of our
 TWO PRECIOUS TOMATOES.

(We dined on them tonight....after the 50 shots!)

It was easy to narrow down the first round.

But no that was not enough. We had to make a final edit of two or three.

Small those little tomatoes

Sweet tomato, round and firm
Bursts of flavor
Of summertime.

  3. Love all of these! Great job with your two tomatoes! They look delicious. It was amazing how much you could do with one subject, isn't it?

  4. What a great exercise with the tomato. I think my favorite is the next to last shot. :)

  5. I too love the next to last, where the repeating circles on the cup and plate echo the shape of the tomatoes, even to the "stem" in the center of each one. (I love those dishes, by the way.) ~Lee

  6. Fantastic! I love the bright colors you've captured and the way you incorporated the dishes into your shot of the tomatoes.

  7. I love the angle of the next to last photo. Did you notice that the stem of the tomato in the front mirrors the circle shape on the cup... nice!

  8. I want you to know that I'm bringing up the rear-see if you don't, someone else will. :)
    Beautiful tomatoes-so brilliant. 50 tomato shots...that deserves a medal.
